Brain Injury & Neurological Conditions Support Manager

The role of our Support Manager is positioned within a dynamic team providing high quality care and rehabilitation for children, young people and adults who have sustained a brain injury or a long term neurological condition. With a dedicated team of more than 200 support workers, managers, clinicians, and specialists placing client goal attainment and improved outcomes at the heart of its mission to ensure measurable, consistent, high-quality community care.

The successful support manager will be a positive team player who has extensive experience of working in the community with proven skills with setting up and managing care packages and rehabilitation programmes.

Other key tasks include:

  • Manage your case load of clients who have complex needs, ensuring a high quality, client-centred approach is delivered to all clients with an emphasis on quality of life.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director, Support Managers, Support Supervisors and Care Coordinators to promote a cohesive team environment.
  • Conduct thorough needs assessments, including risk assessments, of all Clients and prepare care and support plans and ensure they are regularly updated to reflect the Client’s needs.
  • Participate in the recruitment of Support Workers
  • Support and train new and existing Support Workers to provide high quality care and support for all Clients.
  • Conduct regular face to face meetings, facilitations and annual appraisals for Support Workers.
  • Participate in the emergency after hour’s rota.
  • Work alongside the Director and Service Managers to develop and lead the marketing and networking of the Service.
  • Prepare, attend and engage in regular supervisions, appraisals and performance reviews accepting and providing constructive feedback.
  • Attend and share knowledge from attendance at relevant conferences, workshops and key stakeholder events.

Skills and Experience

  • An understanding of the needs of clients who require complex care and how health and social care is structured.
  • Knowledge of legislation relevant to the brain injury sector.
  • An understanding of the challenges faced by Support Workers.
  • Experience liaising with external stakeholders and other professionals.
  • Experience of working positively in a diverse environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and tactfully at different levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent organisational skills and a thorough approach to work.
  • Ability to work autonomously and productively as part of a team.

Desirable Skills:

  • A relevant professional qualification.
  • Strong presentation skills.
